PAKISTAN DEFEAT ZIMBABWE AFTER EXHILARATED CONTEST
Winning Moment:
Pakistan outplayed spirited Zimbabwe by two wickets in a thrilling contest to win the two-match Twenty20 international series 2-0 at a packed picturesque Gaddafi Stadium here on Sunday evening. Pakistan won the first T20 on Friday by five wickets in a game that saw the return of international cricket in Pakistan. Chasing a formidable target of 176, Pakistan raced home for the loss of 8 wickets with Bilawal Bhatti scoring the winning runs.
Bilawal, who kept his nerve in front of 27,000 fans, hit a six followed by a double and a four on first three balls of the last over to bag a win for Pakistan when it seemed like Zimbabwe were running away with a win. Mukhtar Ahmad, who sparkled in the first game also with a dazzling knock of 83, once again played a brilliant innings of 62 off 40 balls to boost Pakistan’s chase of 176-run target before Zimbabwe hit back with a flurry of wickets through some brilliant catching.
Umar Akmal also contributed 30 valuable runs down the order but it was Bilawal’s unbeaten 13 off five balls which hauled Pakistan over the line. Sean Williams and Chris Mpofu bagged two wicket each for the visitors.
